Our Nationwide hydroseeding services are delivered into every sphere of the construction industry, including the road and rail sector, residential and commercial developments, utilities and power generation, as well as wide range of environment focused flood alleviation and erosion control schemes.
OBL operates a number of dedicated hydroseeding units each designed to cope with even the most demanding site requirements. The fleet enables OBL to offer cost effective hydroseeding solutions in variety of challenging environments; our smaller hydroseeding machines are able to access those hard to reach areas of site, and where access is unrestricted, our 2750 litre machines are available to seed high volume areas quickly and with excellent results.
The OBL operation is unlike that of any other hydroseeding contractor in the country; the sector has been plagued in recent year by hydroseeding firms delivering what is known in the industry as ‘blow and go’ – this rushed and unprofessional approach to hydroseeding often sees pavements, fence lines and bridges covered in mulch. This is quick and cheap – but it’s cutting corners.

Case Study: Laporte Landfill
OBL has recently undertaken the restoration of Laporte Landfill site in Rotherham, as part of the “Safer Slopes” initiative, which was implemented by the client. Laporte Landfill has been improved many times over the past few years, however OBL became involved with the official restoration during the first phase of works. Originally the site was poorly capped, leaving waste exposed near the surface. After the re grading and capping the landfill, the areas needed stabilising. Read more »
Case Study: M25 Junction 16 – 22 Widening
The majority of the environmental landscaping works centred on the planting of over 30,000 wetland plants in just 5 days. The wetland plants formed a crucial part of the filtration systems being installed into a number of balancing ponds along the scheme. Read more »
Case Study: M40 – J15 Improvements
Working for UPM Tilhill, OBL were asked to carryout large scale hydroseeding operations across the J15 scheme. The project provided a challenging working environment; live roads, very high traffic volumes and tight delivery timescales meant that the OBL were required to carryout works extremely efficiently and liaise very closely with other contractors on the scheme. As specialists hydroseeding contractors, OBL were contacted by maintenance company Aire Valley Grounds Maintenance to assist and advise at The Ralph Thorsby School in Leeds; hydroseeding was required on a steep bank that had been deteriorating for some time and was depositing large amounts of shale debris on the playing fields below.
